Professional Background

Andrew Lelling is the former United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, having served in that role from 2017 – 2021.  Before that, he was a federal prosecutor in northern Virginia and Boston from 2005 – 2017, working primarily on financial fraud and international drug and money laundering cases.  From 2001 – 2003, Lelling was a senior official in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where his experience included leading DOJ’s investigation of the 2000 presidential election in Florida and negotiating human rights issues with the Chinese government.  Before his tenure at DOJ, Lelling worked at large law firms in Boston and New York.
