Ryan Groff is a member of the Massachusetts bar and director of learning at DeepJudge, and he regularly presents on legal innovation and AI across the US and around the world.
He previously held lead client advising and senior consulting roles at Thomson Reuters, and customer education and marketing manager roles at Casetext, where he was part of the team that launched the world’s first AI legal assistant, CoCounsel. In these positions, he has provided AI advising to senior leaders at large law firms and top corporations, chief justices of state high courts, and circuit court judges. Ryan has also held product and marketing roles at LEAP Legal Software, a global law practice management platform, and he served a 3-year term representing the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel, an independent federal advisory committee improving taxpayer experience at the Internal Revenue Service.
Before and during law school, Groff was firm administrator and paralegal at a Boston-area firm where he led firm technology transformation projects; served estate and trust administration clients navigating domestic and international probate courts and tax agencies; and he assisted 65+ Massachusetts residents applying for long-term medical coverage.
Outside of law, he was administrative director for a nonprofit center of culture with multi-million dollar grant-based programming, and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at various schools. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife and children.
