Transferring to New England Law | Boston

Students at New England Law benefit from rigorous classroom preparation, dedicated mentoring faculty, and ample experiential programs, including clinical training. Our academic law programs equip graduates with the real-world tools and legal savvy that enable them to achieve their goals. Most importantly, they graduate with the confidence to take on any challenge that comes their way.

Transferring to New England Law

Each year, we welcome law school transfer students after they have successfully completed their first year of studies at an American Bar Association– or state-accredited law school.

The application process for law school transfers is primarily based on the student’s previous performance in law school. All transfer applicants must have completed law school credits equal to at least one year of study. Acceptance of all credits, including whether to accept any in excess of the first year of law school, is at the discretion of the director of admissions in consultation with the Office of the Dean.

In determining whether a law school transfer applicant has taken courses that satisfy transfer requirements at New England Law, consideration will be given to similarities between courses taken elsewhere and required New England Law courses, and to the goals and objectives of the skills requirements at our law school.

Transfer scholarships are available as well. Learn more about our financial aid options.

Law School Transfer Requirements

In addition to meeting the criteria above and the general application requirements, transfer applicants must submit the following:

  • A letter of standing from current law school
  • One letter of recommendation from current law professor
  • An official law school transcript showing at least one year of grades

Transfer Student Application Deadlines

Transfer students are normally admitted to begin studies in the fall with applications and all supporting documentation due by July 1. However, at the discretion of the Admissions Committee, applicants for admission with advanced standing may be admitted to begin studies in the spring semester; please contact the Office of Admissions by November 1 for more transfer information about the spring semester option.
