June 12, 2017:  Professor Lisa Laplante, center director, The Center for International Law and Policy joined fellow international experts at the “Teaching Business and Human Rights Workshop” at Colombia University on May 22 - 23. This annual workshop of the Teaching Business and Human Rights Forum brings together stakeholders from academia and industry to explore innovation in education and practice.

The Teaching BHR Forum is a growing community of teachers shaping the study and practice of business and human rights. The Forum consists of over 280 professors or trainers in more than 180 institutions, in 32 countries. The Forum, supported jointly by the Institute for the Study of Human Rights and Columbia Law School's Human Rights Institute, seeks to promote and strengthen business and human rights education by fostering collaboration among its members. 

The Center for International Law and Policy enables students to join the effort to hold corporations accountable for actions that negatively impact human rights. The Teaching Business and Human Rights Workshop provided the opportunity to hear from experts from civil society, business, and education. Professor Laplante joined participants in examining strategies for teaching future advocates.
