New England Law | Boston’s knowledgeable and service-oriented librarians provide instruction and assistance in legal research. Students, faculty, and staff can easily contact reference librarians by email or phone at 617-422-7299.
Our reference librarians assist with research techniques and resources and can point to the most efficient databases for specialized research. Reference librarians, all of whom possess a JD, master’s degree in library science, or both, are available days, evenings, and weekends. They also are happy to meet with students or faculty doing in-depth research in a one-on-one session. All students have access to the major providers of online legal information, Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg. Basic training in online research is given to first-year students, and more training is offered on a continuous basis.
Many resources are available in our extensive print and electronic collection, accessible through our online catalog, Portia. For materials outside our collection, our experienced Circulation Department is helpful in locating and obtaining these. The Law Library is a member of the New England Law Library Consortium and the Boston Regional Library Network and cooperates extensively with other law and research libraries.
