The Center for Law and Social Responsibility empowers law students to pursue their interest in public service through legal advocacy, volunteer/pro bono opportunities, and other real-world projects, in addition to special networking and other center events.

Professor Russell Engler is a nationally recognized scholar on Access to Justice and the right to civil legal counsel for low-income citizens.

The Center for Law and Social Responsibility may provide students with opportunities to become legal advocates in criminal justice, immigration, education, the environment, and women’s and children’s issues, obtaining real lawyering experience alongside professors or under the guidance of full-time legal service providers. 

Participating law students can earn recognition of their public service volunteer work on their New England Law transcript.
