Student positions on the Law Review are highly respected and much sought after. A writing competition and academic performance are used to select Law Review staff, whose responsibilities include editing manuscripts submitted for publication, writing commentaries on various areas of the law, and organizing symposia.

Shining a Spotlight on Legal Controversies
The Law Review is at the forefront of legal questions that challenge the nation. Same-sex marriage, the War on Terror, incarcerated African Americans, clean water, and contraception are but a few of the critical issues that have been analyzed in recent issues of the law journal.
A Proven Path to Career Success
The Law Review has been a springboard for generations of students who have gone on to important positions at all levels of the legal profession, government, and business. “Law Review literally changed my life,” said the Honorable Victor Ort ’70, who served as a judge on the Nassau County (New York) Supreme Court. His path to the bench began with a job at the Nassau County Legal Aid Society, which was impressed with his New England Law Review experience.
Online Versions Extend Reach and Influence
The Law Review’s online law journal editions include New England Law Review Forum, which publishes original content on timely legal issues and produces one of the few law review podcasts in the country, and New England Law Review Forum for Criminal and Civil Confinement, which focuses on criminal and civil confinement law.
Symposia Showcase Legal Experts
Students organize symposia on topics of their choosing, showcasing leading legal authorities in a wide range of subjects. Recent topics have included “The First Amendment Bubble: How Privacy and Paparazzi Threaten a Free Press” and “Sexual Violence in the US Military: Discipline, Justice, and Command.”
Law Review Faculty Advisor
Professor Lawrence Friedman, the Law Review's faculty advisor, is an authority on Constitutional law, information privacy law, national security law, and state Constitutional law. He is a past board president of the Massachusetts Appleseed Center for Law and Justice and a board member of the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps.
