What is ILS All About?
The International Law Society (ILS) is a non-profit association of students and young lawyers dedicated to the study and promotion of international law. ILS's mission is to promote awareness, study, and understanding of international law and related issues. ILS is dedicated to supplementing traditional law school education with opportunities for study, research, and career networking that concentrates on international and transnational law.
ILS seeks to encourage communication and cooperation among law students and other interested individuals internationally; increase opportunities to learn about other cultures and legal systems worldwide; and publicize career opportunities in international law.
The benefits of ILS membership are numerous. In working alongside the Center for International Law and Policy (CILP), ILS members enjoy the international network of pooled academic, professional, and organizational resources provided by the association. ILS enhances the quality and quantity of its chapters' local programming, and allows its members tap into a larger network of global resources.
ILS is able to advise students on opportunities in international law, and provide other educational programming and administrative support. Through ILS, you will be able to participate in a number of events and activities, including conferences, internships, and Study Abroad in International Law programs, and numerous activities at New England Law | Boston.
Comprised of law students and lawyers around the world, the International Law Students Association (ILSA) serves as an umbrella organization for its individual members and chapters at universities. ILSA has chapters at nearly 100 universities and colleges worldwide and, through its various activities, touches students at over 500 law schools in over 100 countries.
ILS stands poised as an international leader providing its members with cross-cultural understanding, instruction, and resources they will need to succeed and contribute to the development of world order and international law.
